COMIC CON-To Hell(and Back) With Dean Winchester: Jensen Ackles Talks About Supernatural Season 4
Jensen Ackles a the 2008 Comic Con
One of the nicest things about getting to interview Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester on the hit Warner Bros/CW Network series Supernatural is how he always takes a moment to acknowledge everyone with a friendly laidback ‘hi how’re you doing’ before he jumps into answering all the burning questions that we reporters have about the fate and future of his character, Dean Winchester. And ‘burning’ is an apt description of what happened to Dean Winchester at the end of Supernatural season 3.
In the culmination of events that started back in the finale of season 2, All Hell Breaks Loose, Ackles found his character of Dean Winchester in the season 3 finale, No Rest for the Wicked, having to make good on his deal to trade his soul into hell at the end of one year’s time for the life of his brother Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). There was no way out of it Dean went to hell.
“Oh yeah, good times,” Ackles says with a laugh. “We left Dean in hell hanging from some meat hooks screaming in agony so I can only imagine what it was like down there, which is something they will get into in I think the first half of the (4th) season.”

Padalecki: Losing Jensen Would Be 'Supernatural' Hell
Jared Padalecki recently took a moment in his busy schedule to chat with reporters on the set of his movie "Friday the 13th" (a reboot that combines elements of the first three films) about his cult favorite The CW series "Supernatural."
He told reporters that shooting for the upcoming fourth season is planned for the first week of July, barring an actor's strike in July. The early shooting schedule should allow "Supernatural" to air new episodes with "Smallville."
Padalecki knows nothing about the next season. He hasn't seen a script or spoken with series creator Eric Kripke. The only person involved in "Supernatural" that he has talked to is his co-star Jensen Ackles, who is currently shooting his own horror movie, "My Bloody Valentine 3-D." Both of their horror films are slated for an early 2009 release.
"He and I have just been keeping in touch, you know? But I haven't seen scripts or read scripts or heard any ideas. So I'm completely" in the dark, Padalecki said.
Ackles' character Dean faced a terrible fate in the Season 3 finale.
Fans are concerned about Dean's fate after he was last seen dangling from hooked chains in Hell. Some worried that Jensen Ackles may have been written off the show. Padalecki is in the dark too, so is he worried that his co-star may not be coming back?
Padalecki isn't thrilled with the idea of starring in the show without Ackles, but was pretty optimistic that he would be back.
"I'm sure Jensen is going to be a huge part of the show, as he always has been. Same as always. Just in hell," Padelecki said with a laugh.
Don't worry too much though. Kripke recently told TV Guide that Dean will be back, but there will be a big mystery surrounding on how he escaped. He has also revealed that Ruby and the hunter Rufus will return as well.
