Ask Ausiello posted some “Supernatural” spoilers fans can look forward to coming up this season.

Question: What did CW prez Dawn Ostroff mean when she said at press tour that Dean will be like Sam and Sam will be like Dean on Supernatural this season? —Isaiah
Ausiello: Let’s ask exec producer Sera Gamble. “When we start the season we very consciously riff a little bit on season 1 in that Dean is out of the business and Sam comes for him,” she explains. “When we started the series, Sam had attachments. He had a girlfriend he was really serious about, and he had retired from hunting essentially. Dean was this very intense hunter who came for his brother. On the surface anyway, the situation is reversed at the beginning of the season.”

From series creator Eric Kripke and Madhouse, the anime studio that brought you Death Note, Vampire Hunter D, and Summer Wars, comes Supernatural: The Animation. This project is expected to yield twenty-two episodes for Warner Bros Home Video and will ship on DVD and Blu-Ray in Japan on January 12, 2011. No word yet on when it will be available to the American market.

When the perfect song meets a poignant scene in a TV episode, careers are made. Shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “One Tree Hill,” and “The O.C.” have lifted musical artists from obscurity into iTunes heavy rotation. It happens all the time. Singer/songwriter Jason Manns managed to do something far more remarkable, becoming a “Supernatural” fan favorite via word-of-mouth (and YouTube) long before his music was ever played on the show.

In 2007, Manns’ longtime friend, “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles, flew to England to do the first “Supernatural” fan convention. Manns sensed an opportunity. “I told Jensen, ‘Ask them if they want music,’ and they ended up flying me out to play a concert on Saturday night,” he tells Zap2it.

It wasn’t Manns’ first convention. His friend Christian Kane, of “Angel” and “Leverage” fame, introduced him to the scene. (We know – Manns has friends in high places. We’d like an invite to their BBQs, too.) Read more… »
