An interview with Jensen Ackles

Technology, Dean and movies

Stavrou: You started on Days of our Lives then went onto Dark Angel, Smallville and now Supernatural. How was the transition from daytime soap opera to prime time?

Jensen Ackles: It’s been good. To be honest, with the soap opera’s daytime format, you really learn a lot very quickly. It’s almost like boot camp. Within the week you either know your lines, hit your mark, find your light or you just sink.

So it’s kind of like tossing someone who doesn’t know how to swim into a pool and seeing if they’re going to survive. Sink or swim.

I think that early on (I think I was 19 when I started on Days of our Lives) it taught me a lot about the technical aspects of acting.

JENSEN ACKLES Q&A

I’ve discovered another interview of Jensen from this year’s Supernatural con in L.A. Enjoy.

JENSEN ACKLES: We are done with season 4. I have one more scene to shoot tomorrow. But that doesn’t really count. It’s second unit stuff. I think it’s our best season. They kind of pulled out all of the stops with this one. With your support we’ve got another one coming. And it’s good to have a job these days.

POP CULTURE ZOO: In making up your audition reel what film clips would you use?

ACKLES: My entire three years on Days of Our Lives. I don’t know. There are a lot of scenes that are kind of close to me. Obviously the emotional ones are the ones I kind of remember…you put a lot of yourself into them. The scene where Sam is laying on the bed dead and I’m talking to him, telling him that I’m sorry and all that kind of stuff. Kim directed that episode and I remember going up to his office and saying, “I don’t know how many takes I can do. So what are your camera angles, how many shots are you seeing because I don’t know how much gas I’ll have to do this scene more then a couple of times.” And he adjusted his camera angles and closed off the set and kicked everybody out and allowed me to do my thing and it was kind of cool.

Jim Beaver interview scoops

Here some Supernatural related pieces of Jim Beaver‘s interview with TV Guide:

TVGuide.com: Turning to Supernatural, I understand an intervention of sorts is coming for Sam….
Beaver: Bobby and Dean will get together to plot out a way to save Sam from himself. Now that he’s got this demon blood addiction, that’s very troubling to them. But then again, Dean and Bobby don’t completely agree on how to handle it, and things get heated between them as well.

TVGuide.com: What’s Bobby’s take on the brothers’ growing rift?
Beaver: I think he shares Dean’s concerns about Sam, but Bobby’s always had a pretty good insight into Dean as well, about how much guilt Dean carries for not living up to what he thinks his father would have done. You’re going to see Bobby try to help Dean with that, even in the midst of trying to resolve things with Sam.

Jared Padalecki Interview

Here are some extracts of an interview Jared has given for his new movie Friday the 13th. The extracts are about Supernatural, that’s why I’m posting it, obviously ;D…

Q: You and Jensen Ackles have dualing slasher movies now. How weird is it that your ‘Supernatural’ co-star had a horror movie come out right before yours?

Jared: I know, yeah. When we found out that we were coming out on February 13th and his movie is obviously called My Bloody Valentine, we were like “Oh, man, I hope they don’t go up against each other” because we’re buddies and it’s not like it’s really going to affect anything but it’s like, you know, I don’t really want the stigma but, luckily, his already came out and did tremendously. Now, it’s my turn.

Q: Both of them are good. Did he say to you, “But mine is in 3-D”?

Kripke’s original plans for the end of S3

Originally taken from the Supernatural Magazine, which I’m going to add to the Gallery tomorrow.

Are there any storylines from season three that were lost because of the writers’ strike that have found their way into season four?

Eric Kripke: “We didn’t have time to tell the story about Sam’s powers, and all that had to push into season four. In the original versions we were thinking of before the strike, Sam was going to save Dean, and in typical Supernatural fashion, it was going to cost the boys dearly. But because we didn’t have the time to develop Sam’s powers, there wasn’t really anybody left to save Dean, so Dean had to go to hell.”

Sam was actually going to save Dean?

EXCLUSIVE: Season Four Could Be Supernatural’s Last!

Please don’t read if you don’t want to get “spoiled”!

Despite a powerful boost in ratings this season, Supernatural has not been picked up for a fifth season by the CW. While chatting with the show’s very own Jared Padalecki, who plays demon hunting brother Sam Winchester, it became clear that he was uncertain about the series’ future. No one is positive that Supernatural will be returning next year, and when asked about season four’s finale, he said that it just might be the last we see of Sam and Dean.

Everyone on set is hopeful that the popular horror drama, which revolves around two spook-snaring brothers, will continue to thrive. But Padalecki, doing the press rounds for his upcoming horror remake Friday the 13th, said that creator Eric Kripke was indeed preparing a series ending climax that would wrap everything up. Kripke is planning to end it all this spring, but if there is a last minute pick-up, he does have a cliffhanger waiting in the wings that will be added at the last second.

Jensen Ackles’ Not-So-Hot Love Scenes

He’s a hit battling evil forces on CW’s Supernatural, and now you can catch Jensen Ackles on the big screen facing a monster minerwho swings a mean pickaxe in My Bloody Valentine 3D.

It’s one more step toward stardom for the hunky guy from Dallas who got his start on Days of Our Lives and went on to Dawson’s Creek, Dark Angel and Smallville.

Q: There’s a lot of in-your-face violence, not to mention blood and gore, spurting off thescreen in 3D. Is it a good thing for the audience to be ducking body parts?

A: I would say it gets a little ugly. But it wouldn’t be a good old-fashioned slasher movieif it didn’t. We tried to push the envelope a little bit and have things flying right at you. Butthat’s what makes it a fun ride. It’s definitely cooler and more frightening in 3D.

Exclusive Interview with Sera Gamble, Part 2

In the second half of BuddyTV’s exclusive interview with Supernatural writer Sera Gamble, we asked her about the show’s future, and she delivered. Aside from discussing upcoming episodes, Gamble also addressed fan concerns about Sam’s role in season 4, explaining that it’s because the angels “appear at times to be so much more connected to Dean.”

Gamble also described her favorite writing experience on Supernatural and offered a preview of several upcoming episodes, including one that features Dean, a soy latte, and a Prius. Trust me when I tell you it’s not what you think. Continue reading for a transcript and to listen to the full interview.

We asked all the fans at BuddyTV to submit any questions they had and a lot of them seemed to be a little concerned with Sam and his storylines. They think he’s being overshadowed by Dean. So I’m wondering if in the second half, is there going to be a focus on Sam?
