The last episode of Supernatural written by Ben Edlund was so great that I had to compose an entire article dedicated to the writer’s brilliance. Edlund has brought us some of the funniest episodes of the series, and tomorrow’s “Wishful Thinking” looks like it’ll continue in that grand tradition. The episode may not contain old school movie monsters or hilariously wacky Ghostfacers, but it does feature a wishing well that actually grants wishes. What would happen to the citizens of a small town if they could have anything they asked for? I predict plenty of chaos, and at least one giant stuffed animal. To get fans ready for this week’s Supernatural, we have a promo and clip from the episode.
The CW’s official description of the episode reads: “Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town where the wishing well really works. A teddy bear comes to life, someone wins the lottery and the town geek gets a hot girlfriend. The brothers realize that while everyone is happy now, the end result will be disastrous.” The promo for “Wishful Thinking” features the awesome Ted Raimi as the town geek. Most people probably know the actor from his days on Xena: Warrior Princess or seaQuest DSV, but he’s also in just about everything produced by his brother, director Sam Raimi. Now that Ted has appeared in an episode, could Bruce Campbell be next? The clip from the episode shows the Winchesters talking with a young girl about her extremely lifelike stuffed animal. At the San Diego Comic-Con, Eric Kripke teased that “Wishful Thinking” would feature a seven-foot-tall talking teddy bear. It turns out he was telling the truth!
